The roads around Tynron War Memorial will be closed between 9.45am and 10.30 am on Monday 20th November during a Victoria Cross Commemoration Ceremony. All welcome to attend. The programme is as follows:
9.40 Service personnel parade at Parish Hall and assemble at the War Memorial.
9.52 The Padre will give a short sermon, , children from Penpont Primary School sing a song, descendants of Lieutenant Samuel Wallace will unveil a plaque, Councillor Dryburg will read the citation for Lieutenant Wallace, wreaths will be laid by the family, school, Community Council, Old Comrades, RAA and British Legion followed by a blessing, the last post and one minutes silence. Reveille will then be sounded and the parade will move back to the Parish Hall.
10.20 Tea, Coffee and Scones will be served and press photographs take.
10.25 Service Personnel, family and other officials will depart for Thornhill.
